QEA Tech finds where a building leaks heat. Infrared and high-resolution cameras survey the envelope, and software works out how much energy is escaping and precisely where, down to inches, accounting for wind, humidity, temperature, and reflectivity. It shows up as a 3D model with a number on each defect and a return on fixing it.

A building can lose most of its energy through the envelope no matter how efficient the HVAC inside it is, and owners generally have no idea where. The choices have been to guess from anecdote and wait for visible deterioration, then replace an entire facade, or to run invasive tests that are impractical with tenants in the building. So nothing happens until something fails. Knowing that this window and that joint are the problem turns an intimidating capital project into a short list of repairs, which is the difference between a retrofit that happens and one that doesn't.
