Building Energy runs a marketplace connecting commercial building owners, the energy service companies who can fix their buildings, and the capital that pays for the work. Commercial buildings waste up to half the energy they consume, over $200B a year, and the market meant to address it is scattered: owners can't find the opportunities in their own portfolios, tens of thousands of service providers can't find customers, and lenders can't find qualified projects fast enough to deploy.

Every efficiency retrofit that doesn't happen is emissions that continue by default, and the reason most of them don't happen isn't cost or technology. It's that three parties who need each other have no efficient way to meet. Benchmarking the portfolio makes the opportunity visible, and visibility is what turns a vague intention into a financed project. This is the least exotic climate work there is, and among the largest.
