E-Zn/E-Zinc

e-Zinc builds zinc-air batteries for long-duration storage, with an architecture that decouples energy from power so adding hours costs little more than adding zinc. Lithium-ion is excellent for two to eight hours and grows expensive and unwieldy past that, which leaves the grid without an affordable answer for the ten-to-hundred-hour problem: the still, dark week that renewables cannot cover on their own.

Without that answer, utilities overbuild generation, keep gas plants on standby, curtail wind and solar they can't store, or accept the outage. Zinc is abundant, cheap, and safe, and e-Zinc's design is largely passive, with duration that scales linearly rather than punishingly. Long-duration storage is the piece the clean grid is missing, and it is a materials problem before it is anything else.
