Arcadia lets anyone with an electric bill buy clean power. Its platform connects to hundreds of utilities across the country, handles the billing relationship, and sources renewable energy on the customer's behalf. No panels, no roof, no upfront cost. Most Americans live where the utility is a monopoly and the electricity mix is simply what it is, with no choice offered and no mechanism to ask for one.

Rooftop solar assumes you own a roof worth putting panels on, which excludes renters, apartments, shaded lots, and anyone who moves. Working through the existing utility bill reaches all of them, and demand expressed through that bill is what pulls new clean generation onto the grid. The hard part is not the idea. It is the plumbing: hundreds of utilities, each with its own billing system, none of which wanted a software company in the middle.
