EELI Technology

EELI Technology extracts lithium with electricity rather than chemistry, pumping lithium ions out of brine with selective electrodes: no acids, no solvents, and none of the evaporation ponds that take two years, enormous volumes of water, and square miles of land to yield a batch. The United States holds over 14 million tonnes of lithium and supplies a small fraction of the world's market, because the domestic resource is dilute brine loaded with sodium, calcium, and magnesium at concentrations that defeat conventional extraction. It stays in the ground while nearly all of what the country uses arrives by ship.

EELI's process is built for precisely that brine, and it runs inside twenty-foot containers, so a project can begin on a site rather than a pond field. Electrochemical extraction has been circling this field for years, and the electrode is where it usually stops. That is where EELI has concentrated its work.
