Tidal Vision
In Alaska alone, two billion pounds of fish and crab byproducts are discarded to rot annually. This waste not only represents missed economic opportunity, but also poses potential environmental threats when concentrated on the ocean floor.
Tidal Vision is helping combat this waste and encouraging sustainable fishing practices by purchasing discarded byproducts from sustainably managed fisheries. They use typically-wasted ocean byproducts from sustainable fishing and crabbing industries to create eco-friendly products.
Tidal Vision's proprietary, zero-waste process produces chitosan, a biopolymer with numerous high-margin, high growth commercial applications, from agricultural to medical.
Chitosan is non-toxic, biodegradable, and biocompatible.
Current applications include managing stormwater runoff, waste water treatment, food processing, as an antibacterial textile treatment, for agricultural soil amendment and stimulation of plant immunity, and as an extender of the shelf life of many foods.
