NORTHWEST ENERGY ANGELS GROUP CHANGES NAME TO ELEMENT 8
Puget Sound Business Journal:
The Seattle-based Northwest Energy Angels angel investment group that focuses on clean tech investment has changed its name to Element 8.
The change, group members said, removes “Northwest” and “energy” from the name because it “make(s) investments in companies that are far outside the Northwest and outside of pure energy technologies.”
Oxygen is the eighth element and the group said oxygen symbolizes a number of things, including life, change, fuel and aspiration.
Element 8 invested $3.8 million in a total of 13 companies in 2013 and invested nearly $4.7 million in clean-tech companies in 2012. Since its founding in 2006, the group has invested close to $14 million in 43 companies.
